Rui Xiang 2023 - Oolong Tea

Rui Xiang is a new variety of rock tea (or Yancha) originating from Wuyi Mountain in the Fujian province of China. This new variety has a strong, ripe, fruity aroma selected and bred by the Fujian Tea Research Institute in 2003 from the Huang Dan (黄旦) and Huang Jin Gui (黄金桂) tea varieties. This new variety is highly adaptable, with a high yield and elegant aroma and flavor. It has won many awards in tea competitions and was later popularized in Wuyishan.

From the dry leaf, to the brewed tea, and in the flavour itself, there is a strong and persisitent ripe fruit aroma, with a hint of nectar. It is smooth and mellow, with the familiar mineral flavor found in rock teas.

Rock teas are known for their strong mineral flavour. This, in addition to the polyphenols and caffeine, can add to a bitter, astringent flavour in the brewed tea. We advise experimenting with quantity of tea leaves, water temperature, and brewing time to find the flavour that is best suited to you.

We source our teas as close to the original producer as possible, while other brands are often multiple steps removed from the original producer, our Chinese tea is sourced directly from the single farm which produces them, ensuring as much profit as possible goes to the people growing and blending the tea, and keeping these communities thriving.
